I'm an independent journalist in the San Francisco Bay Area.
For more than 15 years, I've been charting how technology is changing our lives. The (very) early days of social media. Steve Jobs and the iPhone. Cat videos on YouTube. I also write about parenting, education, race and gender for online and print publications such as Family Circle, Working Mother, Pacific Standard and many others.
Before going out on my own, I was a business and technology staff writer for the San Francisco Chronicle. I also reported on personal finance, real estate, small business and technology for the Contra Costa Times (now the East Bay Times). My journalism career has taken me from manufacturing plants in China to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Ga.
Please feel free to reach out to me with tips, story ideas, opportunities, questions, feedback, etc.
(And no, the cute little girl in the picture is not me. This is a beautiful photo by Mi PHAM that I downloaded via Unsplash.)
